wallace_trust: Me in my woodcutting outfit (woodcutting)
iRay is turning out to be marvelous! Marvelous but slow as molasses. Still, I've learned a lot of things about it over the weekend, including how to speed up render tests.

Most 3D work time is usually spent on testing various aspects of the scene setup. Every time a parameter is adjusted, such as lighting or skin, a new test picture must be made. One doesn't want to do a full render, which may take hours, right off the bat and end up with something unusable. The Holy Grail is realtime test rendering, but that's still a ways away.

Anyway... I've resurfaced Frodo's eyes and done a lot of experimenting with his skin luminosity. I think I've finally figured out the emitters which enable him to possess a subtle glow.   I'm having an interesting problem with the satin lining of his vest, which is showing through on the iRay.

He's a bit disturbed here, I'm afraid, so I've put him below a cut.
