 [personal profile] filkferengi  just brought this to my attention.  It's absolutely beautiful and also true to canon-- at least as far West as the canon goes.  Yes, there are kisses and a lot of happiness :)  To start, scroll up to the top of the page.  And take a look at the comments!

P.S.  According to "The Shaping of Middle-Earth,"  one Valinor year is equal to ten years in Middle-Earth!  :)

Visions of Tol Eressea

Bryce seems to be the software I'm using most this summer.  It has wonderful water shaders.

From the 'ending' of my fic-in-progress (if I ever get there!) ^^;

This scene looks strange and maybe frightening, but there's precedent and it has a good ending!ExpandRead more... )

OK, here's one that doesn't need much explanation.  Valinor.  Hobbits.  Shadowfax.  The golden beaches of the Bay of Eldamar.  *Sighs blissfully*  :)

From my fic-in-progress.

Note on Shadowfax:  The horse in the movie was lovely, but IMHO his color was too light.  My old Beau was the same color, and he was not only amazingly easy to spot even on a dark night, he actually showed up on satellite images of the farm!!  Shadowfax, however, was supposed to be able to run unseen at night, so I have instead opted for a dark dapple grey more in keeping with the "shadow" part of his name.  :)

Sam here is Old Sam, still in process of rejuvenation.  He's doing very well considering he's 102!  :D

Hivewire Harry strikes again  ^_^

This one is out there.  I mixed Frodo & Sam with Siegfried & Roy...  kind of like french fries with ice cream, a weird combination but it works for me  o_O;

The idea is that Manwe, Varda, etc, are curious about those little hobbit creatures who managed to accomplish what the gods themselves could not.  So, with the assistance of Shadowfax's Valinorean relatives, Gandalf is escorting them to the home of the gods.  Could the shining bird guiding them be Elwing?

Bilbo is missing because I didn't have a model of him ready when this inspiration struck.

Rendered in Daz Studio and Bryce.

Happy Holidays, everyone!  Have fun and stay safe!  :D

With everything that's been going on lately, I've let myself get distracted from making new posts.  Here's something to make up for it.  :)

The hobbits playing with Shadowfax on the beaches of Eldamar is a favorite fantasy of mine.  In my ongoing Valinor fanfic (will it ever see the light of day?) Shadowfax serves them as both transportation and loyal guardian.

This Sam & Frodo are from way, way back... Generation 4, I believe.

This is only my extrapolation of events after the end of the book. We all know that Sam eventually sailed West, to be reunited with Frodo on Tol Eressëa. I am glad that Tolkien left this beautiful scene to our imaginations. Here I have them sitting quietly together at the docks as they remember all the family and friends they have had to leave behind. The elf-light of this magical place was both difficult and fun to try to visualize, but my favorite part of doing this illustration was making Sam's foot hair ^_^
