I'd like to slow down enough here to provide another terrific link given me recently by [personal profile] filkferengi .  This article "gets" so much of why certain moments in certain fandoms move us so greatly.  If anything, it's too short.  I'd like to see it expanded.

The author is studying a certain potent effect she calls the "Riders of Rohan" phenomenon, but toward the end of the article she mentions something related which has always fascinated me-- the niche which sci fi and fantasy both provide to those who are 'other,' and the queer community in particular.  I could go on and on about this, but I'll just say for now that for me, it's not only that 'someone showed up,' it's 'someone showed up who understands.'   :)

Happy Easter, Ostara, and any holiday if you celebrate it today!  :)

My brain went out to lunch last week.  It's so strange when this happens!  There is such a discrepancy between my visual output and my written output, it might as well be two different people making this stuff.  My written stuff is often dark and traumatic, and while it tends to end well, it can be really nasty and messy and also embarrassingly sexy.  My visuals are only occasionally dark, but mostly seem centered on relatively tame, uplifting subjects and various attempts at beauty.  I usually don't even try to understand this, I just go along for the ride.  o_O;

Anyway, for some reason my visual brain wanted to see my new F/S models as angels.  Which is weird because I don't particularly like angels, or angelic art.  My theory is that this is an attempt to demonstrate how highly I regard these characters.  Anyway, here they are, for whatever reason... but this is so AU I've decided to load the series (four images) on FTD rather than my usual site.  I made up a very short story after the fact to explain whatever it was I thought I was doing here  :D

"Their names are Iorhael and Perhael, and they're two of the most exalted wind spirits in Creation.  Now they are called to their most important mission.  They have to go down to earth and become small, humble beings in order to undertake the most important quest that ever was.  They've been chosen because of their courage and purity of heart, and also because their eternal love for each other makes them much more likely to survive the dark times that await them.  They will forget everything else about themselves-- their names, their origins-- but they will not forget their love."

Here are some icons that you might or might not enjoy  ^_^  Either way, they are for anyone to use.  All are taken from my various artworks (both fan and original) and sized to 100 X 100.  Some of them are hi-res.  Featuring Frodo and Sam, as well as my OC's Bandi the Harpist, Pabu the Deer Elf, and of course my beloved Perry and Auriel.  Be aware some of these feature same-sex romantic poses!  :D  Now if I can just figure out how to arrange these neatly on this page!  :D

Pabu   Auriel Angel  Bandi the Harpist  Perry and Auriel Sam and Frodo at Mt. Doom Pabu Dancing  Shadowfax
Shire Frodo  Garden Wolf  Frodo and Sam Greeting  Yavanna icon Read and Dream  Perry and Auriel
