When Frodo sailed away, he held the star-glass aloft to give hope to those left behind. It's my dream that someday, years later, he also held it aloft to guide Sam's ship home again to him.
Ohmigosh, I love this! I've often imagined the same thing, that Frodo used it to guide Sam home to him. It's awesome to see this idea brought to life. I really love how Frodo is standing on tiptoe in his impatience to see Sam. And yay for Bilbo being there!
The idea of Frodo using the star-glass to guide Sam's ship is really beautiful, isn't it? I don't find it takes any willful suspension of disbelief ^_^
I'm happy you like the painting. I have never been quite satisfied with it. There is something about the composition or the light which does not really work for me. But I did find Frodo standing on his tiptoes to be cute ^_^
