Shelob 1976

wallace_trustThis was my first try at Shelob :) I remember the family was visiting relatives back East at the time, but I wasn't bored... I'd brought along my Ballantine large-print LOTR, some salvaged paper, and a new set of felt markers! I remember working very hard to hide the hobbits' faces, as I didn't know how to draw a face at the time! What I don't remember is my motivation to put those hot pink and black decorations on Shelob. She looks like she's in lingerie! Is it possible my impressionable 14-year-old mind had recognized that she is the only female baddie in the book, and responded accordingly?
