LOTR TV Series now a REALITY!
Nov. 13th, 2017 06:46 pmFresh from CNN :)
Personally I have fairly high hopes for this one, due to the involvement of the Tolkien Estate :) At the very least, may it respect the original dialogue, and give us glimpses of scenes never yet put on film (such as the journey through the Old Forest.)
EDIT: I am seeing now that it more or less begins as a LOTR prequel, but that Christopher Tolkien has apparently not sold the rights to "The Silmarillion."
There are certainly loads of background material in the books to play with, though personally I would rather see a by-the-book, episodic adaptation of the LOTR epic, such as the one done by BBC Radio. Who knows, maybe that will come in due time :)

Date: 2017-11-14 04:41 am (UTC)I am hoping they will show us what happened w/Drogo and Primula and young Frodo. :) I mean, yes, I know the book stuff, but I would love to see it on film.
And I would love the kind of adaptation you talk about. I'd love to see Elrond healing Frodo, etc. :)
