I'm constantly communing with the characters I'm illustrating, so naturally I've had dozens of hilarious conversations with Frodo and Sam :D I tend to record the better ones for posterity!

SAM (sitting with Frodo, comparing their feet:) Frodo, have you ever noticed how different your feet are from mine?

FRODO: Yes, and my hands, too. See? They look like I haven't ever done a day's work in my life.

SAM: Well, you haven't. Short of the Ring fiasco, that is.

FRODO: That's not true! I clean the cat box every day.

SAM: Only because I won't.

ME : (Interrupting) You're different models. That's why you're not the same.

SAM: What's a model, Miss Carrara?

ME: Uhh... It's sort of like a doll.

FRODO AND SAM (astonished:) A doll?!

ME: Yes. A doll.

SAM: You mean we're being held captive by an invisible girl who plays with dolls?

ME: Well yes, unfortunately that pretty much sums it up.

--*Silence*--

SAM (facepalms:) Why does it always have to be us?

LOL! Love it! :D That is a scream.

I often remind my co-author that he is essentially a mature man who plays princess tea-party with a little girl. :) Fortunately, he is kind enough to just chuckle instead of getting huffy about it. Said man is kindly going to be pitching our princess books to all kinds of editors and agents this summer and fall while I sit home writing. <3

I would love to see more of these conversations. I love this. <3

Thanks! Rhune is indeed exceptional. I don't know how I got so blessed, but I recognize it now. He's been exceedingly patient with me all these years. We've been working together for over 17 years now. It's a wonder he hasn't thrown up his hands in frustration and quit, esp when I was screeching at him for daring to touch my precious words. (He just revised my work. That was all. He didn't butcher it. But I didn't understand, and so spent a good few years getting very upset and having to be placated so we could move on. Needless to say, I don't do that anymore...but man, I don't know what he saw in me to make him stay the course through all that SCREECHING and crying and drama!)
