"Land and Sea"
Feb. 1st, 2019 09:00 pmThis goes with one of my fanfics, but works very well as a generic fantasy painting. I broke my mouse working on the waves yesterday and spent an hour this morning finding and installing an old wireless mouse to replace it! ^^;

Date: 2019-02-03 05:29 pm (UTC)The sea horse is called a hippocampus. It's said they were invented as a medieval heraldic emblem, but I seem to remember seeing them while perusing Mesopotamian art, so I suspect they're far older than medieval times. :)

Date: 2019-02-03 05:58 pm (UTC)A CG artist's work is never just their own. It's a group creation. Each artist has their own areas where they specialize-- some trend toward modeling, some texturing, some rigging and posing and some in setting up whole scenes. I'm mainly the last type. The sea horse tail geograft and paint job aren't mine at all-- I wish they were! They're an artist's resource from Hivewire3D. I was tempted to modify the paint job to suit myself (I was wanting more of an emerald green) but decided for the sake of speed to stick with the skin which was originally supplied.
The work of at least ten people is represented in this picture. The components I used were:
"Skies of iRadiance" by Dimension3D
"Hivewire Horse"
"Hivewire Sea Horse"
DAZ3D iRay cloud props
DAZ3D Morphing Terrain
"Beach" by Adam Thwaites
Brushes by Ron
Most of my effort in this pic went into the water. I used Adam Thwaite's "Beach" model as a base to start with, but IMHO no CG water is really convincing without a lot of paint work. ^_^
